They took a 46-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of College Prep & Leadership Academy. Cornerstone Charter was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as College Prep & Leadership Academy apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January.
Despite the loss, Cornerstone Charter still got an impressive performance from Kaylen Williamson, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds. That was a full 47.5% of Cornerstone Charter's points, marking the ninth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Haven Becker was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with five rebounds.
College Prep & Leadership Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Melody Johnson, who shot 4-for-6 from long range and dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. Johnson continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Melissa Massenat, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 20 rebounds.
Cornerstone Charter's loss was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-15. As for College Prep & Leadership Academy, their win ended a 12-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-17.
Cornerstone Charter does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for College Prep & Leadership Academy, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Leadership Academy at 6:30 p.m. College Prep & Leadership Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 591st, while Leadership Academy is ranked 289th).
