Softball Recap: Hardin Northern Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Victory

Hardin Northern had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.8 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Thursday. They blew past the Lima Central Catholic Thunderbirds 17-3. The Polar Bears might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matches by seven runs or more this season.

Milee Seabrook was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Hardin Northern let Lyla Holtzberger and Addy Bacon run wild. Holtzberger went 3-for-4 with four runs and five RBI, while Bacon got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Baylie Bacon, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.

Hardin Northern was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in five consecutive games.

Hardin Northern's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-4. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Lima Central Catholic, their loss dropped their record down to 4-7.

Looking ahead, Hardin Northern will take on Spencerville at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Lima Central Catholic, they will face off against Perry at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
