After a string of seven wins, the Foothill Mustangs's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They took a 64-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of Gridley.
Foothill's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was David Robinson, who scored 11 points. The contest was Robinson's third in a row with at least ten points. Tomari Harris was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Gridley's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Aaron Kullar led the charge by dropping a double-double on 19 points and 13 rebounds. Kullar hasn't dropped below 15points for nine straight games. Another player making a difference was Luis Murillo, who scored 11 points along with five assists and three steals.
Foothill's defeat dropped their record down to 10-4. As for Gridley, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Foothill will take on Florin at 7:00 p.m. on January 8th. Florin will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 1143rd, while Foothill is ranked 549th). Gridley and Corning will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 9th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Corning is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.
