Basketball Recap: Mccoy Rothe Key Part of Team Effort in Sawyers Win

There's no place like home for Saugerties, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They took down the Spackenkill Spartans 69-55 on Friday. Given the Sawyers' advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 224th, while the Spartans are ranked 537th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Saugerties got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Mccoy Rothe out in front who went 6-for-12 en route to 20 points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jahmia Snyder, who went 5-for-8 on his way to 17 points.

Saugerties' win bumped their record up to 12-7. As for Spackenkill, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-9.

Saugerties will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Goshen Central at 6:30 p.m. on February 26th. As for Spackenkill, they will head out to square off against Pawling at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
