This season hasn't been kind to the Antonito Trojans, who are still winless after their seventh game. They fell just short of Moffat by a score of 45-42. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Antonito in their matchups with Moffat: they've now lost three in a row.
Several Trojans players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Destanaya Quintana, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 14 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Quintana scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Luz Elena Parra, who scored 16 points along with nine rebounds and three steals.
Even though they lost, Antonito smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Moffat was led to victory by Paige Hammel and Kadence McWilliams. Hammel dropped a double-double on 15 points and 15 rebounds, while McWilliams dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. Hammel hasn't dropped below 15points for four straight games.
Antonito's loss was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 0-7. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only four points. As for Moffat, their victory bumped their record up to 2-7.
Antonito won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Creede at 5:00 p.m. on January 13th. As for Moffat, they will be playing at home against Antonito at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday.
