The Mexia Black Cats were the 62-57 winner over the Teague Lions when they last played one another back in February, but their luck changed this time around. Mexia fell 37-26 to Teague on Saturday. Mexia's loss continues a unfortunate trend for the team, making it three in a row.
Leading Teague to victory were Bethanah Owens and A'shaiya Jones. Owens scored 7 points along with 12 rebounds and 4 steals, while Jones scored 13 points along with 5 rebounds. Owens is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season.
Mexia's defeat dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Teague, their victory bumped their record up to 10-5.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Westwood the next time they take the court. Teague will head out to face Westwood at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, while Mexia will head out to face them at 9:00 a.m. on Friday.
