Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
West Lafayette suffered their biggest loss since December 2, 2023 on Saturday. They suffered a tough 64-44 loss at the hands of Twin Lakes. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points West Lafayette has scored all season.
Meanwhile, North Montgomery's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They were the victim of a tough 50-29 loss at the hands of Lebanon. North Montgomery found out winning isn't easy when you're outrebounded 9 to 2 on offense.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Noah Hopkins, who scored six points. Another player making a difference was Kelby Harwood, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds.
North Montgomery struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
West Lafayette's defeat dropped their record down to 9-6. As for North Montgomery, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season.
West Lafayette didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against North Montgomery in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, but they still walked away with a 49-43 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for West Lafayette since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
