Rancho Cucamonga's victory was truly a team effort as eight different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Grant Thomas, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and one double. Those three RBI gave Thomas a new career-high. Brock Foulds was another, going 2-for-5 with one run and one double.
Rancho Cucamonga was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .394. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Etiwanda only posted a batting average of .160.
Chino Hills came out on top against Damien on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run sixth inning. The Huskies walked away with a 7-3 win over the Spartans. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Huskies.
Aydan Maxson tossed a big game, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Josh Mendez, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season. Another player making a difference was Jacob Jimenez, who went 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Rancho Cucamonga's record now sits at 17-5. As for Chino Hills, their record is now 14-8.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Rancho Cucamonga has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.1 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Chino Hills struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7 strikeouts.
