There's no place like home for the Emery Spartans, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Wednesday. They strolled past Richfield with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 53-39. For Emery, this counts as revenge for the 57-53 loss Richfield walked away with the last time they faced one another on January 3rd.
It was another big night for Zack Tuttle, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Matt Olsen was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with three steals.
When it comes to explaining why Richfield lost, one person who can't be blamed is Malik Fautin. Despite the final result, he scored nine points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Richfield struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Emery pushed their record up to 14-5 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Richfield, their loss dropped their record down to 11-7.
Emery will head out on the road to square off against Manti at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Utah (Manti is ranked 32nd, while Emery is ranked 46th). As for Richfield, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Carbon at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Carbon focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 last Thursday.
