Despite their loss, Carl Hayden Community saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Prince Cash, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Santino Esquivel was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, North scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Maryvale 69-66. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win North has posted yet this season.
North's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Trystan Williams, who scored 13 points along with seven blocks and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Williams has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Anthony Trujillo, who scored 21 points.
Carl Hayden Community has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-7 record this season. As for North, their victory ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-10.
Carl Hayden Community came up short against North in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, falling 69-57. Can Carl Hayden Community avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
