Saint Ignatius College Prep is a perfect 10-0 against De La Salle since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. Zoe Smith made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, Eliana Romero was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Katie McClain, who went 2-for-3 with two runs.
Saint Ignatius College Prep was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .382. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as IC Catholic Prep only posted a batting average of .200.
De La Salle let Hinsdale South stack five runs on them in the sixth inning on Tuesday but luckily De La Salle prevailed anyway. The Meteors walked away with a 9-6 victory over the Hornets.
De La Salle let Kayla Kamradt and Brianna Gonzalez-Grimaldo run wild. Kamradt got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Gonzalez-Grimaldo got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Samara Agredano, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
De La Salle has been performing well recently as they've won 16 of their last 20 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Saint Ignatius College Prep, their victory bumped their record up to 11-14.
Saint Ignatius College Prep came out on top in a nail-biter against De La Salle in their previous meeting back in April, sneaking past 12-10. Will the Wolfpack repeat their success, or do the Meteors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
