The biggest upset of the week belonged to Myers Park, who took down 37th ranked Ardrey Kell, 21-14. Ross Jeffries threw for 162 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 46 yards in the win.
Jason Connella and Dequan Barnes provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Providence. The longest such play in 4A Southwestern this season, the connection resulted in 70 yards.
Connella provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Independence defeated the Panthers. He completed nine passes for 197 yards and one touchdown and also ran for 50 yards. Connella's favorite target this week was Barnes, who caught three passes for 89 yards.
Jaquavion Alexander was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 185 yards on 23 carries as the Mustangs beat South Mecklenburg.
Harris was the best wideout in the league this week as the Ravens topped the Sabres. Harris racked up seven receptions for 114 yards. Aaron Cole helped Rocky River's passing attack out by catching three balls for 34 yards.
Independence's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Patriots feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Connella has thrown for 1127 yards and 14 touchdowns this season, while Barnes has 29 catches for 542 yards. Isiah Robinson leads the league in rushing with 901 yards.
Robinson of the the Patriots is only 99 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season.
Two of the top units in the league will face off this week when Independence takes on Rocky White's team. Bill Geiler's team's offense has recorded 262 points this season, making them No. 1 in the league, while the Sabres have permitted only 239 on the year.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Knights take on Butler. Ardrey Kell is in fourth place, while the Bulldogs are in first place.
Butler extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating East Mecklenburg, 60-0. The victory was the sixth in a row for Brian Hales's team.
