Softball Recap: Hale Center Has No Trouble Against New Deal

Hale Center won the last time they faced New Deal and things went their way on Monday too. The Hale Center Owls were the clear victor by a 14-3 margin over the New Deal Lions. Considering the Owls have won ten games by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Miella Anguiano made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off nine hits (and only one walk). The dominant performance also gave her a new career-low in walks (one). She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing Four bases. while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Hale Center got a massive performance out of Alyssa Borunda, who scored three runs and stole Seven bases. while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. The dominant performance gave Borunda a new career-high in stolen bases. Bella Ruiz was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing Seven bases. while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Hale Center was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .393 or higher in four consecutive matchups.

Hale Center is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. New Deal dropped their record down to 2-8 with the defeat, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season.
