The South Florence Bruins had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They took down Kingstree 42-27.
It was another big night for Jada Montgomery , who scored 14 points along with three steals. That makes it seven consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of South Florence's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Amari Gamble , who scored seven points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Despite the loss, Kingstree had strong showings from NAYDIA SHAW, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds, and MAKAYLA DUKES, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and six steals. DUKES is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season.
South Florence's win bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Kingstree, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. South Florence and Hartsville will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 5th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hartsville is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road. As for Kingstree, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Georgetown at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Georgetown will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps South Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 261st, while Kingstree is ranked 125th).
