Basketball Recap: St. Francis Indian Piles Up the Points Against White River

On Wednesday, St. Francis Indian faced White River in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The St. Francis Indian Warriors simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the White River Tigers 80-45. For the Warriors, this counts as revenge for the 83-41 win the Tigers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January.

St. Francis Indian had a senior duo take command as Kenyon McCloskey went 9 for 17 on his way to 19 points and John Gunhammer went 7 of 12 on his way to 16 points. That's the most points Gunhammer has posted since back in January. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Spotted Tail, who posted 12 points.

With the victory, St. Francis Indian broke their six-game losing streak and moved their record to 1-1. As for White River, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 1-1.

St. Francis Indian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 94-64 loss against Pine Ridge on the 19th. As for White River, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 63-29 win against Tiospa Zina on the 19th.
