Basketball Game Recap: Orangewood Christian Rams vs. Circle Christian Centurions

If Circle Christian wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Orangewood Christian, they should've done a better job of containing Ethan Toadvine. The Orangewood Christian Rams snuck past the Circle Christian Centurions with a 79-73 win on Friday thanks in part to Toadvine, who posted 31 points. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in points.

Several Centurions players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Noah Whisler, who went 8 for 14 en route to 23 points in addition to five assists and three steals. Whisler has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Joel Velazquez was another key player, going 8 of 18 on his way to 23 points along with five rebounds and four steals.

Orangewood Christian's victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 6-11. As for Circle Christian, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-11 record this season.

Orangewood Christian has already played their next matchup, a 62-44 win against Elite Prep Academy on the 21st. As for Circle Christian, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 74-36 defeat against Mount Dora Christian Academy on the 18th.
