In what's become a running theme this season, the First Baptist Saints gave their fans yet another huge win on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 62-36 margin over Heritage Christian. First Baptist is really starting to get used to good results now that the team's won 13 straight.
First Baptist was led to victory by Meredith Quinn and Emily Kate Jones. Quinn scored 20 points along with nine rebounds and eight assists, while Jones dropped a double-double on 26 points and 13 rebounds. Jones is absolutely dominating the point category: she's posted at least 15 every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Gianna Brown, who scored six points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Several Eagles players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Maggy Mcswain, who scored seven points along with seven steals. Mcswain is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Deanna Montgomery was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with two steals.
First Baptist pushed their record up to 18-3 with that victory, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 33.92 points. As for Heritage Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-6.
First Baptist will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Greenville Christian at 6:00 p.m. Greenville Christian will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 1509th, while First Baptist is ranked 414th). As for Heritage Christian, they will head out on the road to square off against Trinity School of Texas at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Trinity School of Texas comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 14 points in their last four games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
