Lecanto is 2-8 against Springstead since April of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Panthers will be playing at home against the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Lecanto will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Wednesday, then bounced right back against Crystal River on Tuesday. The Panthers put the hurt on the Pirates with a sharp 12-6 victory. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Panthers' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.
David Logue was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most hits he has posted since back in February. Jayden Russell was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
Lecanto was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .394. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Springstead ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. Springstead's win bumped their record up to 5-12. As for Lecanto, their victory bumped their record up to 7-11.
Lecanto's speedy runners might be the difference in Wednesday's matchup. The Panthers have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Springstead, though, as they've been averaging only 0.5 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Lecanto continue to outrun the ball?
Everything went Lecanto's way against Springstead in their previous meeting back in February, as Lecanto made off with a 9-1 win. Do the Panthers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
