The Comanche Indians will be playing in front of their home fans against the Purcell Dragons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Comanche will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Oklahoma Rankings (they are ranked 209th, while Purcell is ranked 72nd).
Comanche fell victim to Washington's stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were beaten by the Warriors 62-0. Comanche was already down big by the end of the third quarter and they stayed that way after failing to score in the fourth.
Meanwhile, Purcell put the finishing touches on their fifth blowout victory of the season on Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Little Axe 42-14 on the road. Purcell's offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.
Kash Guthmueller was a one-man wrecking crew for Purcell as he rushed for 96 yards and four touchdowns on only ten carries, and also threw for 84 yards and two touchdowns on only five passes. Another player making a difference was Noah Mason, who picked up 46 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Comanche's loss was their sixth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 2-7. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 8-3 Marlow and 6-3 Lindsay (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 61.2% over those games). As for Purcell, their win bumped their record up to 7-2.
Comanche took a serious blow against Purcell when the teams last played back in November of 2022, falling 35-0. Thankfully for Comanche, Brody Galyean (who rushed for 101 yards and a touchdown on only 14 carries, and also threw for 105 yards and two touchdowns) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
