The Jefferson Yellowjackets stacked a third blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Sioux City North with a sharp 84-61 win. Given Jefferson's advantage in MaxPreps' Iowa basketball rankings (they are ranked 44th, while Sioux City North is ranked 254th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Jefferson got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jordan Dewaele out in front who scored 28 points along with seven rebounds. Dewaele continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. Devin Davis-conti was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
The win makes it two in a row for Jefferson and bumps their season record up to 8-2. As for Sioux City North, their defeat was their 11th straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 1-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jefferson will take on Sioux City West at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Sioux City West is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak. Sioux City North won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Sioux City East at 5:15 p.m. on January 17th. Sioux City East knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 11 matchups -- so hopefully Sioux City North likes a good challenge.
