The South County Stallions will head out on the road to face off against the Lake Braddock Bruins at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
South County can now show off five landslide victories after their most recent match on Friday. They blew past Woodson 56-13 on the road. Given South County's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia football rankings (they are ranked 31st, while Woodson is ranked 202nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
South County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jordan Dennis led the charge by throwing for 343 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 12.3 yards per attempt. Tommy Martz and his 82 yards on the ground were also a key factor in South County's victory.
Meanwhile, Lake Braddock entered their tilt with West Springfield with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. Lake Braddock secured a 41-37 W over West Springfield on Friday.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lake Braddock to victory, but perhaps none more so than Robert Hollien, who picked up 152 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Hollien's longest reception was for an incredible 75 yards. Another player making a difference was Michael Suris, who threw for 277 yards and three touchdowns while completing 73.9% of his passes.
South County is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. As for Lake Braddock, their victory was their sixth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 7-1.
South County beat Lake Braddock 33-24 in their previous matchup back in November of 2022. The rematch might be a little tougher for South County since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
