McGehee is 0-6 against Woodlawn since March of 2017 but things could change on Thursday. The McGehee Owls will head out on the road to square off against the Woodlawn Bears at 4:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
McGehee barely beat Fordyce the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. McGehee's pitcher stepped up to hand Fordyce an 11-0 shutout on Tuesday.
Not much got past Drake Brown, who gave up just a hit and racked up 16 Ks to keep Fordyce off the board.

On the hitting side, Kamryn Jefferson was a standout: he scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Jefferson is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Kyler Bell, who scored two runs and stole Five bases. while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Woodlawn). They blew past Stuttgart 11-4 on Tuesday. The Bears haven't had any issues with the Ricebirds recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Tyler French tossed a big game, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits.
At the plate, Logan Clark was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. He also brought in two RBI, marking his first of the season. Garrett Weatherford was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
Woodlawn always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .524. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.
Woodlawn's record is now 4-1. As for McGehee, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. McGehee has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 13.3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Woodlawn struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
McGehee might still be hurting after the 11-1 loss they got from Woodlawn when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Can McGehee avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
