The Providence Day Chargers will square off against the Fort Mill Yellow Jackets at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Providence Day's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed last Friday. They blew past Northwood Academy 12-0.

Rachel Lyons made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, firing off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 3-for-4. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Maddie McDermott, who went 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Maddie Chilcote, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI and two runs.
Providence Day was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .433. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Northwood Academy only posted a batting average of .118.
Meanwhile, Fort Mill won against Northwestern on Friday with ten runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Monday. The Yellow Jackets came out on top against Chester by a score of 10-6. The victory was familiar territory for the Yellow Jackets, who have now won three contests in a row.
Brooke Rosario was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Elise Nordgren, who got on base in two of her four plate appearances with four stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
The win got Fort Mill back to even at 6-6. As for Providence Day, their victory bumped their record up to 3-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Providence Day has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Fort Mill struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Providence Day suffered a grim 10-0 defeat to Fort Mill in their previous meeting back in March of 2017. Will the Chargers have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
