The Mooresville Pioneers were the 56-51 winner over the Franklin Community Grizzly Cubs when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Mooresville lost to Franklin Community on the road by a decisive 60-42 margin on Friday. Mooresville has been going strong on the season, but this is now their second loss in a row.
Mooresville lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Kalyn Bunch, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Randee Garringer, who scored ten points along with five rebounds.
Franklin Community's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Aubrey Runyon led the charge by scoring 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Erica Buening, who scored 14 points along with three steals.
Mooresville's loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-4. As for Franklin Community, the victory was the tenth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mooresville will take on Bloomington South at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Bloomington South will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings (they are ranked 144th, while Mooresville is ranked 30th). As for Franklin Community, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Plainfield at 7:30 p.m. on January 10th.
