The Eastern Tech Mavericks will head out to square off against the Pikesville Panthers at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Eastern Tech's pitching crew has only allowed 4.1 runs per game this season, so Pikesville's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
On Wednesday, Eastern Tech didn't have quite enough to beat Hereford and fell 4-3. The Mavericks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Pikesville came out on top against Sparrows Point on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run second inning. The Panthers walked away with a 12-8 victory over the Pointers. With that win, the Panthers brought their scoring average up to 6.1 runs per game.
Ethan Holaday made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off two hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2025. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with three RBI and two runs. He has become a key player for Pikesville: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-4 otherwise.
In other batting news, Kairee Williams and Richie Carlton did most of the damage at the plate: Williams went a perfect 5-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI, while Carlton got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and one double. Carlton continues to improve, besting his previous run total in each of the last three games he's played. Khaiyon Hill also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.
Pikesville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
The victory made it two in a row for Pikesville and bumps their season record up to 3-5. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games. As for Eastern Tech, their loss dropped their record down to 6-5.
Eastern Tech might still be hurting after the 8-0 defeat they got from Pikesville in their previous meeting back in April of 2025. Can the Mavericks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
