Silverdale Academy hasn't had much luck against Baylor recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Seahawks will challenge the Red Raiders at 6:30 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Thursday.
Silverdale Academy is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They never let South Pittsburg get on the board and left with an 18-0 victory on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for the Seahawks in their matchups with the Pirates: they've now won eight in a row.
Caleb Voss was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-2. What's more, he posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. Bennet Reagan also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Silverdale Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Baylor waltzed into their game on Wednesday with seven straight wins... but they left with eight. They blew past the Blue Tornado 14-4. Considering the Red Raiders have won 11 contests by more than seven runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Henry Allen tossed a big game, striking out eight batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Rylan Jessee and Mac Morris did most of the damage at the plate: Jessee went 3-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one double, while Morris scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Kilby Hartley was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-4.
Silverdale Academy pushed their record up to 14-7 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.9 runs over those games. As for Baylor, their record now sits at 19-5.
Silverdale Academy might still be hurting after the 9-1 loss they got from Baylor when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Seahawks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
