The West Chargers will head out on the road to square off against the De Soto Wildcats at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, West beat Seaman 55-49. The win was just what West needed coming off of a 58-30 loss in their prior matchup.
West found their leader in underclassman Keimani Paul, who scored 18 points along with five assists and two steals. Johnny Young was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, De Soto came tearing into Friday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 35 points) and they left with even more momentum. They took down Lansing 71-54. Given De Soto's advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 22nd, while Lansing is ranked 221st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
West is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. As for De Soto, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-3.
West was dealt a bruising 76-30 loss at the hands of De Soto when the teams last played back in January. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point West was down 40-19.
