The Lake Creek Lions will head out on the road to take on the Montgomery Bears at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Lake Creek's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last six matches.
On Wednesday, Lake Creek didn't have too much trouble with College Station at home as they won 63-46.
Aedan Lewis was his usual excellent self, scoring 25 points along with five rebounds. He has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last five times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jett Sutton, who scored ten points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Montgomery pushed their score all the way to 62 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 63-62 to Rudder. Montgomery has not had much luck with Rudder recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Lake Creek pushed their record up to 20-6 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.0 points per game. As for Montgomery, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-17 record this season.
Lake Creek came up short against Montgomery in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, falling 45-41. Can Lake Creek avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
