The Oak Grove Grizzlies stacked an 11th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They claimed a resounding 65-38 win over Ledford at home. Winning may never get old, but Oak Grove sure is getting used to it with their eighth in a row.
Oak Grove's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Victoria Lockamy led the charge by scoring 15 points along with three steals. Lockamy has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Kalin Favreau was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with six rebounds.
Despite the defeat, Ledford saw an underclassman step up: Izzy Smith scored 14 points along with two steals. That was a full 36.8% of Ledford's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Addison Claire love, who scored eight points.
Oak Grove has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 15 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 18-2 record this season. As for Ledford, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-13.
Oak Grove will head out on the road to challenge Montgomery Central at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Montgomery Central is on a nine-game streak of home wins, Oak Grove a 12-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season)-- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. Ledford will take on Asheboro at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Asheboro is coming into the matchup with seven straight defeats on the road, meaning Ledford will have to defend against a squad hungry for a victory.
