Covenant Day is on a nine-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Charlotte Latin is on a five-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Lions will host the Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Covenant Day 1.7, Charlotte Latin 4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
If Covenant Day beats Charlotte Latin with five runs on Tuesday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. The Lions' pitchers stepped up to hand Providence Day a 5-0 shutout on Thursday. The Lions haven't had any issues with the Chargers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
James Cosper was a major factor no matter where he played. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.

In other pitching news, Grant Gardner tossed a big game, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over six innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts any time he's pitched this season.
Cosper wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Brode Dixon, who scored a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
Covenant Day hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Providence Day struck out ten times.
Meanwhile, Charlotte Latin made easy work of Cannon on Friday and carried off a 9-2 victory. The Hawks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by seven runs or more this season.
Like Covenant Day, Charlotte Latin also got a great game from a two-way player: Avery Booker. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and not a single walk). Booker was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Brayden Hampton was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Jaden Hawa was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one double.
Charlotte Latin's win bumped their record up to 11-2. As for Covenant Day, their victory bumped their record up to 14-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Covenant Day has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 12 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Charlotte Latin struggles in that department as they've been averaging 10 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Covenant Day came out on top in a nail-biter against Charlotte Latin when the teams last played back in May of 2024, sneaking past 1-0. Do the Lions have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Hawks turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
