Newark is 2-8 against Mynderse Academy since May of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Reds are taking a road trip to square off against the Blue Devils at 5:00 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Thursday.
Having struggled with five losses in a row, Newark turned things around against Williamson on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 16-1 margin over the Marauders.
Meanwhile, Mynderse Academy never let their opponents score on Tuesday. They blew past Midlakes 18-0. The result was nothing new for the Blue Devils, who have now won 12 matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.
Haley Young was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
In other batting news, Mynderse Academy got a massive performance out of Hannah O'Brien, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits O'Brien has posted since back in April of 2025. Allyson Fenton was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs, three doubles, and four RBI.
Mynderse Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .471. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .414 or higher in three consecutive games.
Newark's record is now 2-6. As for Mynderse Academy, their record now sits at 13-0.
Newark suffered a grim 19-0 defeat to Mynderse Academy in their previous meeting back in April. Can the Reds avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
