The South Pike Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Noxubee County Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Thursday, South Pike beat Port Gibson 24-14. The win was just what South Pike needed coming off of a 42-20 loss in their prior match.
South Pike relied on the efforts of Tedarrius Aych, who rushed for 95 yards and two touchdowns on only 11 carries, and Martavius Jones, who rushed for 87 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries. Jones was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 63 yards.
Meanwhile, Noxubee County had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 40.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They breezed by McLaurin at home to the tune of 48-0. Considering Noxubee County has won five games by more than 24 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Kamario Taylor continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 134 yards and four touchdowns while completing 77.8% of his passes. Taylor hasn't dropped below three passing touchdowns for five straight games. Najayvious Jones also deserves a mention for his punt return touchdown.
South Pike's win was their fifth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 7-3. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 41.6 points per game. As for Noxubee County, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season.
