After flying high against the Eureka Tornadoes last Tuesday, the Council Grove Braves came back down to earth. Council Grove took a 61-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of Halstead. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Several Braves players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Finn Gant, who scored eight points along with four steals. Another player making a difference was Kolby Rose, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds.
Council Grove now has a losing record at 7-8. As for Halstead, their win bumped their record up to 5-11.
Council Grove will look to defend their home court on Friday against Sacred Heart at 7:30 p.m. Hopefully Council Grove focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Thursday. As for Halstead, they will head out on the road to square off against Hillsboro at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Halstead is coming into the game with four straight victories on the road, meaning Hillsboro will have to defend against a team hungry for a win.
