St. Thomas Aquinas extended their postseason success on Friday against Blanche Ely. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Tigers 40-0 at home. The result was nothing new for St. Thomas Aquinas, who have now won nine games by 26 points or more so far this season.
It was another big night for Jordan Lyle, who rushed for 146 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries. Lyle really tore up the turf during one magnificent 95-yard run. The team also got some help courtesy of Justin Montgomery, who gained 76 total yards and a touchdown.
St. Thomas Aquinas' defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB 12 times. It was a group effort, with three guys contributing.
Meanwhile, Coconut Creek was able to grind out a solid victory over West Boca Raton on Friday, taking the game 24-17. Given Coconut Creek's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 12th, while West Boca Raton is ranked 60th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Their wins bumped St. Thomas Aquinas to 11-1 and Blanche Ely to 9-3.
Everything came up roses for St. Thomas Aquinas against Coconut Creek in their previous meeting back in November of 2022 as the team secured a 59-14 victory. Will St. Thomas Aquinas repeat their success, or does Coconut Creek have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
