Basketball Recap: Union Colony Prep Extends Winning Streak to Three

Union Colony Prep had won two straight games and Soliana Gebremeskel did her part to make it three on Thursday. The Union Colony Prep Timberwolves simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Bishop Machebeuf Buffaloes 53-24 thanks to Gebremeskel, who dropped a double-double with 35 points and 14 rebounds. Her evening made it five games in a row in which she has scored at least 20 points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Nadene Chacon, who posted eight points. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in field goal percentage (67%).

Justina Cichos and Aubrey Cichos certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Justina had seven points in addition to nine boards and four steals, while Aubrey earned eight points and seven rebounds. Justina has been hot recently, having posted nine or more boards the last four times she's played. Penelope Mikita was another key player, putting up two points and six steals.

Union Colony Prep's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-7. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 27.3 points. As for Bishop Machebeuf, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-12.

Coming up, Union Colony Prep will be playing in front of their home fans against Lyons at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Union Colony Prep is facing Lyons at the right time seeing as Lyons is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Bishop Machebeuf, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 46-36 defeat against Conifer on the 15th.
