If the Dupree Tigers were feeling good off their 65-15 takedown of the Takini Skyhawks last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Dupree took a serious blow against Philip on Thursday, falling 66-36. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Dupree has suffered since December 2, 2023.
Philip found their leader in underclassman Drew Terkildsen, who scored 22 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Terkildsen is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kale Peterson, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Dupree has fallen quite a ways from their 17-6 record last season and are now at 3-7. As for Philip, the win got them back to even at 5-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Dupree won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Cheyenne-Eagle Butte at 6:30 p.m. on January 26th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in South Dakota (Cheyenne-Eagle Butte is ranked 133rd, while Dupree is ranked 124th). As for Philip, they will head out on the road to square off against Newell at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Newell is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
