Christian Heritage unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They took a blow against the Heritage Generals on Friday, falling 51-13. The loss continues a trend for the Lions in their meetings with the Generals: they've now lost three in a row.
Although Christian Heritage took the loss, they still got scores from Nigel Broome and Jacob Tatum.
Heritage's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Brayden Slaughter led the charge by rushing for 130 yards and a pair of touchdowns. What's more, Slaughter posted two rushing touchdowns, the most he's had since back in September of 2024. Another pass catcher making a difference was Cody Bryan, who picked up 158 receiving yards and two scores.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Christian Heritage will head out to take on Landmark Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Heritage, they will venture away from home to square off against Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
