Fountain Valley has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against The Brentwood School Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
Last Friday, Fountain Valley suffered a rough 31-7 defeat at the hands of Newport Harbor. While losing is never fun, Fountain Valley can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 274th, while Newport Harbor is ranked 94th).
Meanwhile, Brentwood School had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24.6 points), and they went ahead and made it six on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Viewpoint 42-0 at home. The result was nothing new for Brentwood School, who have now won six matches by 21 points or more so far this season.
Boone Lourd continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 105 yards and three touchdowns while completing 88.9% of his passes, and also punching in a touchdown on the ground. Lourd hasn't dropped below three passing touchdowns for seven straight games. Davis Wong was in the mix too, providing Brentwood School with two touchdowns.
Fountain Valley's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 3-7. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 8.0 points per game. As for Brentwood School, their victory bumped their record up to 8-2.
