The Bear River Bears entered their tilt with the Ridgeline Riverhawks with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Bear River walked away with a 59-52 win over Ridgeline on Wednesday. Winning is a bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 12 to 5 on the offensive boards, as Bear River did.
Bridger Barfuss continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 18 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Gehrig Marble, who scored nine points along with nine rebounds and five assists.
Several Riverhawks players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Cam Blotter, who scored nine points along with six assists and three steals. Blotter has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last six times he's played. Another player making a difference was Carson Cox, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Bear River's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-2. As for Ridgeline, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-5 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bear River will take on Mountain Crest at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Utah (Mountain Crest is ranked 46th, while Bear River is ranked 22nd). Ridgeline's road trip will continue as they head out to face Sky View at 7:00 p.m. on January 19th. Sky View is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.
