The Abingdon/Avon Tornadoes will take on the Annawan-Wethersfield Titans at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.
Abingdon/Avon came out on top against Galva on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run fourth inning. The Tornadoes blew past the Wildcats 13-3. Considering the Tornadoes have won six contests by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Lillie Stephens made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off two hits. Those six strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those doubles marked the first that she has hit this season.

Abingdon/Avon kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are 6-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Annawan-Wethersfield). They were the clear victors by a 17-4 margin over Monmouth United on Thursday. The Titans haven't had any issues with the Red Storm recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.
Abingdon/Avon has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Annawan-Wethersfield, their win bumped their record up to 9-11.
Abingdon/Avon came out on top in a nail-biter against Annawan-Wethersfield when the teams last played back in April of 2024, sneaking past 10-8. Will the Tornadoes repeat their success, or do the Titans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
