The Bowman Academy Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Griffith Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Bowman Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Tuesday.
Bowman Academy pushed their score all the way to 55, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 68-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of Michigan City. Bowman Academy has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the defeat, Bowman Academy saw an underclassman step up: Jamarie Pollard scored 23 points along with six assists and six rebounds. Tasean Gates was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with two steals.
Bowman Academy struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Griffith was able to grind out a solid win over Highland on Thursday, taking the game 53-42. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Griffith.
Cameron Chandler and Savon Miles were among the main playmakers for Griffith as the former dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds and the latter scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Miles is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Colton Strezo, who scored five points along with five steals.
Bowman Academy now has a losing record at 9-10. As for Griffith, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season.
Everything went Bowman Academy's way against Griffith when the teams last played back in February of 2023 as Bowman Academy made off with a 75-49 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Bowman Academy since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
