The Madison Cubs pushed their score all the way to 61 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 72-61 hit to the loss column at the hands of Austin. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Madison in their matchups with Austin: they've now lost three in a row.
Madison's loss came despite strong showings from Landon True and Quincy Reynolds. True scored 26 points, while Reynolds scored 20 points along with eight rebounds. Reynolds scored a full 32.8% of Madison's points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. ?scar Gonzalez was another key contributor, scoring four points along with five assists.
Madison's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Austin, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Madison will be home for the holidays to greet Shawe Memorial at 4:50 p.m. on Friday. Austin will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on South Decatur at 10:00 a.m. on December 27th.
