Softball Recap: Glades Central Takes a Loss

Glades Day hit Glades Central with a nine-run fourth inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Raiders came up short against the Gators, falling 15-5. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Gators this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 20-4 back in February.

D'Yami Meredith was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She struck out nine batters over 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits. What's more, she gave up only two walks, the fewest she's had since back in February. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played.

Glades Central has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season. Those defeats can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.1 runs over those games. As for Glades Day, their record is now 10-4.

Glades Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Glades Day, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Lake Worth at 5:00 p.m. The Trojans have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 16.2 runs per game on average), something the Gators will no doubt try to take advantage of.
