Indian Creek extended the longest winning streak in Mid-Indiana Football this week by beating Rushville, 28-6. The victory was the eighth in a row for the Braves.
Milan took down Edinburgh 31-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Gavin Detraz threw for 83 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 31 yards in the win.
Indian Creek's dynamic duo of Matthew Wray and Cory Utecht proved tough for the Lions to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Wray threw for 238 yards and two touchdowns and Utecht had 99 yards receiving. Brenden Smith helped Indian Creek's passing attack out by catching six balls for 60 yards.
Jason Kirchhoff was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 144 yards on 19 carries as North Decatur beat Rushville. Brock Ricke also contributed to the rushing game with 88 yards on the ground.
The Braves' Wray and Smith have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Wray has thrown for 2182 yards this season, while Smith, a 6-foot-0 receiver, has 65 catches for 936 yards. The Chargers' Kirchhoff leads the league in rushing yards with 1572.
Smith of the Indian Creek's is a few catches away from breaking 1,000 yards for the season. He needs only 64 receiving yards in this week's game against Beech Grove to get there.
Scott Pennington of the the Indians is only 99 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 160 carries Pennington has accumulated 901 yard this year.
Eastern Hancock made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 8,603 from 9,672. The improvement was the result of 42-14 victory over Hagerstown last week.
