There's no place like home for the East Bay Indians, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 58-55 win over Armwood on Tuesday. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
East Bay was led to victory by Aaron Quarterman and Kamren Lovett. Quarterman scored 16 points along with three steals, while Lovett dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Lovett has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Curry Staples, who scored nine points.
Despite the loss, Armwood still got an impressive performance from Talon Mckinnie, who scored 15 points along with nine rebounds and four steals. That's the first time this season that Mckinnie pulled down eight or more rebounds. Miles Davis was another key contributor, scoring six points along with seven rebounds.
Even though they lost, Armwood smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
East Bay's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-9. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.0 points per game. As for Armwood, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-13.
East Bay won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Riverview at 8:00 p.m. on January 17th. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Bryson Kearney and Quarterman. Armwood won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Middleton at 8:00 p.m. on January 17th. Middleton has now lost nine straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 6.
