The Lawrence North Wildcats will venture away from home to challenge the Brownsburg Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Lawrence North will be strutting in after a win while Brownsburg will be coming in after a defeat.
Lawrence North came out on top against Warren Central on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run first inning. The Wildcats' pitchers stepped up to hand the Warriors a 10-0 shutout. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Warriors recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.
Sydney Moss was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Moss was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base. That stolen base marked the first that she has snagged this season.
In other batting news, Lawrence North got a big performance out of Jaida Wheat, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI Wheat has posted since back in April. Tessa Kramer was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run.
Meanwhile, Brownsburg fell victim to Hamilton Southeastern and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They fell just short of the Royals by a score of 1-0. Bulldogs fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Royals since on Friday.
Etta Schroering was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she pitched eight innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Brownsburg saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Izzy Neal, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases. Neal is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last 14 games she's played.
Lawrence North's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-9. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Brownsburg, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-8.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Monday. Lawrence North hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.7 home runs per game. However, it's not like Brownsburg struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.6 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Lawrence North suffered a grim 15-4 defeat to Brownsburg in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Wildcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
