The Richfield Wildcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They fell 64-54 to Cottonwood.
Richfield's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Gavin Kirschner, who scored 12 points along with 5 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jorgen Southwick, who scored 13 points along with 5 rebounds.
Even though they lost, Richfield were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cottonwood only pulled down two.
Leading Cottonwood to victory were John Rosevear and Luke Park. Rosevear scored 20 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 steals, while Park scored 19 points along with 7 assists. The matchup was Rosevear's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Peter Oguama, who scored 7 points along with 6 rebounds.
Richfield now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Cottonwood, their win bumped their record up to 4-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Richfield will take on South Sevier at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Cottonwood, they will head out on the road to face off against Highland at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Utah (Highland is ranked 35th, while Cottonwood is ranked 38th).
