Summertown and Mt. Pleasant are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2020, but not for long. The Summertown Eagles will be playing in front of their home fans against the Mt. Pleasant Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Summertown is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 71.5 points per game this season.
Last Tuesday, Summertown earned a 69-59 victory over Perry County. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 132nd, while the Vikings are ranked 319th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Kurt Burleson was his usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double on 26 points and nine boards. The matchup was his fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Cole Campbell, who posted 11 points and five rebounds.
Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Mt. Pleasant's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 36-32 hit to the loss column at the hands of Loretto.
Summertown will need focus on slowing down Micah Dale, one of several Mt. Pleasant players who made an impact when they last played. He went 5 of 10 en route to 12 points. Jayden McClure was another key player, putting up eight points.
Summertown is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 14 games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.9 points per game. As for Mt. Pleasant, their defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-5.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as Summertown and Mt. Pleasant are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Summertown hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 71.5 points per game. However, it's not like Mt. Pleasant struggles in that department as they've been averaging 61.8 points. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
Summertown didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Mt. Pleasant in their previous meeting back in January, but they still walked away with a 61-57 win. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Mt. Pleasant's Ryan Benderman, who went 9 for 16 on his way to 20 points and six boards. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Summertown still be able to contain Benderman? There's only one way to find out.
