Lindhurst extended their winning streak to five on Thursday, bumping them up to 9-3. They put the hurt on the Vacaville Christian Falcons with a sharp 13-2 win. Considering the Blazers have won seven matchups by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Ashlynn Wheeler made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off nine hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Gisele Thao was incredible, going 4-for-5 with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted three or more hits the last three times she's played. Kimberly Diaz-Valadez was another key player, going 2-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
Lindhurst always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. They are 8-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
As for Vacaville Christian, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games.
On Vacaville Christian's side, they saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hailey Hulsey, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles and one run. Elyse Vizcay also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
