If the Fountain Valley Danes were riding high off their 33-12 takedown of the Monument Academy Lynx last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Fountain Valley suffered a rough 41-19 defeat at the hands of the Eagles on Tuesday. Fountain Valley was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
Fountain Valley's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Asha Monroe, who scored six points along with 12 rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Quin Lewis, who scored six points along with seven rebounds and five blocks.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Fountain Valley struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Pikes Peak Christian racked up 14 assists.
It was another big night for Sarah Harris, who scored 21 points along with six assists and six rebounds for Pikes Peak Christian. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Harris has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Rebecca Thomas, who scored ten points along with seven steals.
Fountain Valley has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-7 record this season. As for Pikes Peak Christian, their win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-5.
Fountain Valley will take on the Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Elbert is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak. As for Pikes Peak Christian, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against the Indians at 6:30 p.m. Kiowa will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.
